Health Insurance
Capital Ingenuity helps clients understand the complexities of health insurance.

Health insurance is designed to help spread the risk of an insured person incurring medical expenses. Health insurance companies insure many people at one time, so the risk of having to pay out a significant medical claim is spread out across the premiums that are being paid for many different health insurance policies.

There are several different kinds of health coverage available today, including Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs), and Point of Service plans (POS). If health insurance is offered or provided by an employer, the type of coverage may be dictated by the plan. Some employers offer a variety of options in their available plans. If a plan is not offered or if an employee is not satisfied with the available options offered in an employer's health plan, an individual can apply for these different types of health coverage as an individual.

Health insurance policies can have a wide variety of different terms and costs associated with them. An individual considering a health insurance policy needs to understand several different factors affecting the policy including, but certainly not limited to, co-payments, deductibles, coverage limits, and exclusions.
